Getting The Quality Message Across
Even if your organisation does not wish to implement a specific quality methodology such as ISO 9001 or the EFQM Excellence Model you can nevertheless achieve virtually the same by ensuring that your staff and management are both aware of, and understand the application of the underlying quality principles that drive both ISO 9001 and the Excellence Model.
In-House Training Workshops
In-house workshops can be a very useful means of providing staff with a form of "quality training", although the word training is not necessarily the most appropriate in this case.
Depending on what is required we can provide tailored in-house workshop sessions covering the underlying quality principles used by the methodologies mentioned above, and how these can be applied to your own business. The aim here is to show simply, and with practical examples, how applying these principles can really help improve products and services. This is really a step toward instilling a "quality culture" within the organisation.
Quality Management Principles - ISO 9001
The ISO 9001 Standard is underpinned by eight Quality Management Principles, and if you fully understand and adopt these principles then it is quite likely that you will achieve the same if not more than an organisation that is actually certified to ISO 9001. Gaining ISO 9001 can still just mean having the certificate on the wall, with little by way of an embedded quality culture evident. Using these principles without the need for a certificate generally means that the management, and by extension he staff, are genuinely committed to continuous improvement. The eight Principles are:
- Customer focus
- Leadership
- Involvement of people
- Process approach
- Systems approach to management
- Continual improvement
- Factual approach to decision making
- Mutually beneficial supplier relationships
