is an experienced ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 consultant
and any of the following services can be combined or adapted to
suit particular needs. but these are typical:
Drafting a Systems
Manual
For smaller firms especially who may not be able to afford to retain
an ISO 9001 consultant all that may be needed is the "kick
start" towards eventual certification, whether just ISO 9001,
or combined with ISO 14001 or OHSAS 18001. The systems manual
would be drafted based on your business operation, allowing you
to complete the more detailed local information - e.g. file names,
records etc. This effectively provides the route map to eventual
compliance. Do note however that the drafting of a manual always
includes follow-up advice and guidance via phone or email right
through to certification at no extra cost.
Full consultancy
Where processes are more complex, and where internal resources are
not available, we can carry out the necessary implementation work,
especially where this may involve some degree of process re-engineering.
Follow-up ISO 9001 consultancy could amount to just one or two days,
or as much as you need to see you through to certification.
Environmental Reviews
A full environmental review of an organisation is used as a means
of producing the Environmental Aspects Register that is required
under ISO 14001. The review will usually entail one day at
most and include the initial documenting of the relevant Aspects.
Business Risk - Preventive
Actions
ISO 9001 is really about minimising the risk of things going
wrong in a business or organisation through the implementation of
consistent and documented processes etc. When implementing ISO 9001
we will provide a Business Risks Register as part of the Preventive
Action requirement of the Standard, but this exercise can always
be carried out irrespective of ISO 9001 as it can be very useful
in highlighting the primary risks to the smooth running of a business
operation which often will not have been previously considered.
The intention is then of course to put in place any preventive or
mitigating actions or processes which can also lead to the development
of full scale Business Continuity Plans.
Integrating separate management systems
If you are already running separate management systems and
certifications for say ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and/or OHSAS
18001 then there is a good case for integration given the overlaps
in the Standards. There is also scope for internal efficiency improvements
as well as potential savings on certification surveillance visits
if using the same Certification Body.
"Dummy Assessment" Audits
A dry run style audit prior to external assessment can be
very useful for getting staff used to the style of auditing employed
by the Certification Bodies, as well as highlighting residual deficiencies
or nonconformities. A "dummy assessment" will usually
amount to ONE day's work.
Internal Auditing
Some organisations may decide to outsource some or all of
the periodic internal auditing that is required under these Standards,
as well as perhaps carrying out some regular maintenance on the
management system. Brian Mead, Business Improvement Services will
be happy to quote for carrying out periodic audit work if required.
General Process Improvement
As an experienced ISO 9001 consultant, Brian Mead , Business
Improvement Services is ideally placed to undertake general process
improvement work which could involve work on an existing management
system based on industry best practice combined with a highly practical
approach. A specialism is that of actually simplifying existing
ISO 9001 management systems that may have been implemented many
years ago when the trend was for much heavier documentation and
therefore greater maintenance overheads.
