Consultancy Approach and Background Brian Mead is an experienced consultant who utilises a very practical approach to implementing quality and environmental management systems based on his considerable experience originally as a Quality Manager within a corporate Blue Chip and now, since 2003, as an independent consultant successfully helping all types of businesses to gain the ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certifications. Brian tailors each implementation to the specific needs of the client organisation and ensures that any documented procedures are kept to an absolute minimum, whilst still ensuring an effective management system and of course compliance with the standard(s). When drafting a new Systems Manual, whether for an ISO 9001 or ISO 14001 implementation, it will be tailored as far as possible to the current working practices of the client organisation and will make use of any existing documentation etc. He is always careful to avoid incurring any over burdensome bureaucracy, more especially where smaller businesses are concerned. Brian's Approach to consultancy work is... To always aim to ensure that whatever work is carried out does in fact have some tangible business benefit. To avoid over complicating things - much of it is usually common sense. To adopt a relatively minimalist approach to implementing ISO 9001 and a belief that it should only be there to assist the business, not hinder it. To encourage client organisations to carry out as much of the preparation work as possible in order to encourage ownership. To focus on the underlying Quality Principles of ISO 9001 so that a successful outcome is more likely. These can also mostly be applied to ISO 14001. and lastly..
